Description

Floscopa cf. scandens ist a quite new, unusual aquarium plant that was introduced in the trade as Commelinaceae sp. "Green". Under water it develops strong, upright stems with alternate, light green leaves and resembles the Tradescantia species that are used as houseplants. Side branches appear especially on the lowermost nodes. Floscopa cf. scandens grows best with nutrient-rich substrate and CO2 supply. It is also recommendable as fast-growing emersed plant in paludariums.

Submers

This plant, possibly imported from Asia, probably belongs to the genus Floscopa, considering its flower characteristics, amongst others. It might be Floscopa scandens. Sometimes it can even be found in trade under the name Floscopa cf. scandens, however, for exact identification, further examinations are necessary. What can be said for sure is that is belongs to the Commelinaceae family, which makes it a close relative of e.g. the genus Murdannia, or of Tradescantia, some members of which are well-known houseplants. Up to now, this extraordinary aquarium plant is not very well-known.

As terrestrial plant, Commelinaceae sp. "Green" has upright to creeping stems. When cultivated submersed, its stems are rigid and upright. The leaves are wide lanceolate, without a stalk, up to 8 cm long and 2.2 cm wide. (read more)

Bought as an in-vitro pot, it grows for me in (unfertilized) sand, with rather little light, good nutrient supply and occasional trimming into a beautiful bush that's leafy all... (read more)

Pots were only half filled. Very annoying. Why order XXL pots if there's only half in them? Since it was very cold during shipping, the plants weren't packed well. (read more)

Schade. Dann lieber bei anderem Händler bestellen.Bin direkt auf die Nase gefallen
