Description
The FishGuard automatic feeder feeds the fish in the aquarium around the clock. Up to four feedings with three doses per day can be pre-programmed via an LCD display. This makes it particularly suitable for use in large aquariums with a lot of fish. Thanks to the special sealing mechanism, the food is optimally protected from moisture. A power supply unit for battery operation may be purchased separately. This allows the unit to switch seamlessly to battery operation in the event of a power failure.

I like small aquariums and therefore small fish, too. My main problem with other feeders was the still far too large amount of food that gets into the aquarium at the smallest... (read more)

Auch für Kleinstmengen
Ich mag kleine Aquarien und folglich auch kleine Fische. Mein Hauptproblem bei anderen Automaten war die immer noch viel zu große Menge an Futter, welche in der kleinsten Fütterungseinstellung ins Aquarium gelangt.
Der Oase FishGuard lässt sich schon von Haus aus so einstellen, dass auch bei der Verwendung von XS-Futtergranulat angemessene Mengen in ein Nanobecken befördert werden. Die Konstruktion des Schiebers ließe auch Raum für einfache Manipulationen (z. B. etwas Bastelplastik) mit denen man diese Kleinstmengen noch weiter reduzieren könnte.
Spannend ist der (recht laute) Ausfahrmechanismus - vor allem bei der Verwendung des optionalen Halters für die Aquarienwand: er lässt die Futtertrommel aus dem schützenden Gehäuse auf die Wasseroberfläche hinausfahren, die vorprogrammierten Runden drehen, um dann die Trommel wieder vom Wasser weg in das schützende Gehäuse am Beckenrand zu befördern. Somit zieht das Futter keine Feuchtigkeit. NACHTRAG: Außerdem schattet der Automat so nicht das Becken ab; das finde ich vorteilhaft gegenüber anderen Automaten, die ständig über die Oberfläche ragen.
Ein weiter Kaufgrund ist das optional erhältliche Netzteil gewesen. Das werde ich mir wohl noch gönnen - das Entfernen der vier Batterien ist bei den beiden Außenpositionen doch etwas sehr fummelig. NACHTRAG: entfernt man die Batterien oder das Netzkabel, vergisst der Automat die Uhrzeit. Die Fütterungszeiten und -mengen bleiben jedoch gespeichert. Die Zeit lässt sich schnell wieder korrekt einstellen. Dennoch von mir beide Daumen nach oben!
The feeder works very well. With other feeders, the food flakes stick to the outlet flap because of the moisture from the aquarium. That doesn't happen here! (read more)

Funktioniert prima, etwas laut
Der Automat funktioniert sehr gut. Bei anderen Futterautomaten verkleben die Futterflocken wegen der Feuchtigkeit vom Aquarium an der Ausgangsklappe.
Das geschieht hier nicht! Man kann bis zu 4x täglich eine Fütterung programmieren. Und bei jeder Fütterung die Menge (Drehzahl) einprogrammieren. Das Gerät ist beim Füttern relativ laut.
