Apart from soil, gravel and sand, Tetra's substrate category also includes CompleteSubstrate, a ready-to-use substrate. This nutrient-rich, fertilized substrate supplies aquatic plants with a broad spectrum of nutrients right from the start. This allows even demanding aquarium plants to take root reliably and develop strong roots. ActiveSubstrate looks similar to standard commercial gravel, but it can do much more. Thanks to the porous structure of these peat granules, plants can develop roots much better and more easily. It also has a natural look and allows fresh water to flow through it optimally. The constant flow of oxygen-rich water through the substrate prevents excessive detritus from building up over a long period, counteracts the formation of cyanobacteria and ultimately ensures clear, healthy water.
