The new onex system impresses above all with its very slim and thin design. The aluminum lamp bodies are only 2 cm wide and 1.4 cm high. They are fitted with very efficient LEDs in a single row. Depending on the light color, 160 to 180 lumens per watt are offered here, which makes this aquarium lighting extremely energy-saving.
The lamps are offered in different lengths, generally from 20 to 200 cm. An adjustable-length mount is already included with the onex system, because the light bodies have extendable telescopic rods. This means every LED lamp can be adapted individually to any aquarium size.
Light colors of the daytime onex
The daytime onex is offered in three light colors. The "Plant" model delivers a fairly warm white tone at 4,000 to 5,000 Kelvin, while the "Fresh" variant has a cooler white at 6,000 to 7,000 Kelvin. Both models are especially energy-saving at 180 lumens per watt and offer a very good light output.
The "Color" model has red and blue LEDs in addition to the white ones. These provide stronger color accentuation. Reddish and blue objects such as plants and animals then shine in a very intense color. This model offers 160 lumens per watt.

How is the daytime onex mounted?
![daytime - onex - mounting]()
The daytime onex already has integrated pins whose length can be adjusted. With this inline adapter system, the onex lamps can be operated excellently under an aquarium cover. They are, of course, potted watertight and are therefore especially resistant to condensation and splash water. Thanks to the very thin and narrow design, an onex lighting finds its place even under tight conditions in an aquarium cover.
In addition, there are further mounting options. With suitable T5 and T8 adapters, an onex lamp can be inserted into existing tube sockets. Cable suspensions allow operation as a hanging lamp. With an acrylic adapter set, the daytime onex can also be converted into a stylish top-mounted light.
Control options for the daytime onex

Of course, there is also a matching LED controller for the daytime onex. The very attractively priced BC16 from daytime can be used for this. With it, various dimming phases with up to three different switching times can be programmed. Sunrises and sunsets are also possible with this system. Note: unfortunately, controlling the individual light colors of an onex colour is not possible in principle.
Conclusion
With the onex system, the renowned manufacturer daytime delivers slim and unobtrusive LED lamps that can be used well above all where little space (aquarium covers) or a very plain design is called for. Thanks to the various adapters, many mounting options are available. With 160 to 180 lumens per watt, there is also a light output that is currently at the upper end of the range and is very welcome to the energy-conscious aquarist.
