Fluval - Filtering

Filtration is key to the purity and clarity of the aquarium water and to the well-being of the animals in the aquarium. Over time, organic waste and the inhabitants' excretions pollute the water. The ammonia concentration rises, nitrites can form, sand gets stirred up. To keep the water quality consistent, these residues can be filtered out effectively by modern, powerful filters such as the Fluval 07 series, the FX or the U series with multi-chamber systems. Mechanical Biofoam filter mats remove coarse dirt particles, sand or mulm from the water. Chemical filter components such as Fluval Carbon neutralize potential hazards such as heavy metals, copper or chlorine. With Biomax, Fluval also offers high-performance biological filter media. These provide a large surface area for nitrifying bacteria to colonize, effectively filtering dangerous substances such as nitrite out of the nitrogen cycle and converting them into nitrates – that is, valuable plant fertilizer.

Nitrate remover, phosphate remover, activated carbon, ammonia remover, Biofoam filter mats or Biomax media are the perfect complement to a Fluval filter. Thanks to the precise fit of the sponges and the highly efficient, cleverly combined media, crystal-clear water will no longer be a problem, even in densely stocked, bustling aquariums.
