The performance of an aquarium filter stands or falls with the quality of its filter media. Fluval offers the right filter material for every conceivable situation.
Mechanical filter media such as Bio-Foam or Bio-Foam Max first filter coarse suspended particles such as dead leaf material, impurities or residues out of the aquarium water, while also providing a surface for nitrifying bacteria strains to colonize.
Biological filtration is achieved with Biomax, for example. Thanks to the medium's large colonization surface, ammonia and nitrite become controllable, taking away the fear of potentially harmful nitrite spikes even in heavily stocked tanks.
Chemical filtration at Fluval is handled by cleverly combined products such as Zeo-Carb. Combining several components in one filter medium doubles your options for getting cloudy water or bad odors under control. At the same time, toxic ammonia can be neutralized.
Despite their top quality, filter sponges or activated carbon for Fluval's all-in-one aquariums still need to be replaced at certain intervals – for example, when filter performance drops due to increasingly clogged filter mats.
