Description

This Lilaeopsis species from the southern part of South America is not well known in the aquarium hobby. It has up to 30 cm tall, nearly terete, hollow, culm-like leaves. Typical for the Lilaeopsis genus are the crosswise furrows on the leaves.

With its height, Lilaeopsis macloviana is well suited for the midground, as transition to the background. Associated with Eleocharis acicularis, Lilaeopsis macloviana allows the creation of very naturally appearing layouts.Due to its low temperature requirements, it is also highly recommendable for unheated aquaria.

Lilaeopsis macloviana is a member of the carrot family from southern South America that is little known in the aquarium hobby and only occasionally kept.12 Compared with L. brasiliensis, which grows only about 6 cm tall, it has much longer leaves.3 These are culm-like, hollow, round in cross-section and transversely grooved, as is typical of the genus; their length is given as up to 30 cm or as more than 30 cm.12

Combined with needle spike rush (Eleocharis acicularis), it produces natural-looking layouts; because of its height it belongs in the midground to background.23 As it does not need high temperatures, it is also an option for unheated tanks. (read more)

Hello, can this plant stick out of the water at, say, a 30 cm water level, or would it lie down at the surface?

The plant has an average growth height of approx. 30 cm. So it will not stick out of the water. The leaves are rather soft and herbaceous and will probably not grow upright out of the water.

Excellent packaging here too. Plenty of plants in the in-vitro packaging. As described, somewhat fleshier, reminiscent of chives. (read more)

Sehr Gut

Good quality. High quantity. Didn't do anything for me in sand. Not even under full lighting. No growth visible at all. No new runners either. (read more)

XL in Vitro

Gute Qualität. Hohe Quantität.

Ist bei mir im Sand nichts geworden. Auch nicht unter voller Beleuchtung. Keinerlei Wachstum erkennbar. Auch keine neuen Ausläufer.

Sie ist voluminöser und vielleicht 1-2cm höher als ihr kleiner Vetreter brasiliensis. Vielleicht benötigt sie nährstoffreicheres Substrat?
