The Aquarium Plant Set - 250 Liters - Algae Control - Green - No. 02 was put together to equip a large aquarium with fast-growing, highly competitive species that effectively suppress algae right from the start. It includes Helanthium bolivianum "quadricostatus", Cardamine lyrata, Hemianthus glomeratus, Echinodorus 'Tricolor', Limnophila sessiliflora, Hygrophila polysperma, Rotala rotundifolia and Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig'. The combination ensures a balanced, densely planted tank with vigorous growth and stable nutrient conditions.
This set is designed to let you set up an aquarium without needing extensive prior knowledge of aquatics and plant care. The selected plants need low light, no CO2, and weekly fertilization is sufficient. All plants are robust and easy to care for, do not place high demands on water parameters, and are forgiving of care mistakes.
Helanthium bolivianum "quadricostatus" is a low-growing dwarf sword plant from Central and South America. It forms light green, lanceolate leaves and, through numerous runners, quickly grows together into a dense lawn-like carpet. The species is robust, easy to care for and ideal as a carpeting plant for the foreground.
Cardamine lyrata originates from East Asia and is known as Japanese cress. The plant has roundish, light green leaves and creeping stems that form dense cushions. It grows quickly, is very adaptable and thrives in both cooler and warmer aquariums.
Hemianthus glomeratus is a delicate stem plant from North America that forms dense, light green bushes. Its fine leaves give the midground lightness and structure. With regular trimming, it grows compactly and forms an even stand.
Echinodorus 'Tricolor' shows a fascinating play of colors in green, red and brownish tones. This cultivar from the Rataj nursery is easy to care for and grows moderately fast. It sets striking accents in the midground of larger tanks.
Limnophila sessiliflora is one of the classic fast growers and is particularly suitable for algae-prone aquariums. Its fine-leaved, light green shoots grow briskly, absorb nutrients effectively and thus stabilize the ecological balance.
Hygrophila polysperma is one of the most robust aquarium plants of all. It grows quickly and forms strong stems and broad, light green leaves. Thanks to its adaptability and nutrient uptake, it contributes significantly to algae prevention.
Rotala rotundifolia is a stem plant from Southeast Asia with roundish leaves. Under strong lighting, its shoot tips turn reddish, creating a striking contrast in the background. The plant grows densely and thus offers hiding places for fish and shrimp.
Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig' is characterized by light green leaves with striking pink veins. It grows just as quickly as the normal form and is extremely easy to care for. With its strong color, it sets attractive accents in the background while promoting the biological balance. The result is a harmoniously planted aquarium with vigorous, algae-free plant growth that combines stability and natural beauty thanks to its balanced combination of species.
