Description

Druid Gravel from the manufacturer WIO is a natural river gravel in a dark gray. This gravel is particularly well suited for creating effects in aquascapes and biotope aquariums. When wet, its smooth surfaces look very attractive in combination with plants. A mix of different sizes creates a very natural look - ideal for riverbed scapes.
Druid Gravel goes perfectly with Druid Stone and Druid Boulders.

Gravel is usually a passive substrate that does not provide any nutrients for the aquarium plants. When setting up with gravel as the sole substrate, using a substrate fertilizer can therefore be highly advisable. Fertilizer balls or tablets can be used to enrich specific areas in the aquarium with nutrients, so that heavy root feeders such as Cryptocorynes in particular can benefit.

Natural gray coloration
Different grain sizes can be mixed for a greater sense of depth
Druid Gravel does not increase water hardness

Note

All WIOdecor gravels are prewashed. Nevertheless, the manufacturer recommends briefly rinsing the gravel with cold water before use to wash off any abrasion caused by transport. This also prevents grains of sand from floating up when the aquarium is filled.

Product Safety

Choking hazard

Warnings:

Dust may cause temporary mechanical irritation to eyes and skin. Avoid contact and rinse with water if necessary.
Inhaling dust may irritate the respiratory tract. Ensure adequate ventilation.
Small amounts may be swallowed by children or pets. This is not a toy. Keep the product out of reach.
Risk of slipping on spilled material. Pick up immediately.

General information:

Dust may be generated when handling dry material. Rinse thoroughly before use and add to the aquarium slowly. Fine filtration helps to clear cloudiness.
Calcium-containing variants can raise pH and KH values. Suitable for hard water such as in Lake Malawi or Lake Tanganyika as well as for brackish or saltwater aquariums. pH-neutral variants are suitable for softer biotopes. Check water parameters regularly.
Thick substrate layers can accumulate detritus. Shape the substrate with a slight slope, vacuum carefully and avoid stirring it up heavily.
Variations in color and texture are batch-related and may vary slightly depending on the lighting.
Store dry and airtight to prevent dust and moisture absorption. Keep away from food, children and pets. If the packaging is damaged, transfer the contents safely to another container.

Handling instructions:

Preparation: Rinse thoroughly in a clean bucket until the water is mostly clear.
Distribution: Spread evenly. Do not compact the substrate too much in the aquarium. Shape it with slopes for the water flow.
Filling with water: Place a plate or a plastic sheet on the substrate. Pour the water over it slowly to avoid stirring up the substrate.
Start-up phase: Run the filter continuously. Partial water changes help to remove fine particles.
Chemical selection: Use pH-neutral substrate for soft or neutral water. Choose calcareous variants for alkaline water. Check water parameters regularly during the first weeks.
Ongoing care: Vacuum carefully and avoid stirring up dust.
