Description
WIO Elderly Gravel is a natural river gravel featuring numerous colour variations in a well-balanced mix. This substrate allows you to create a highly natural atmosphere in the aquarium. A blend of different grain sizes adds depth to the scape and gives the layout a very organic appearance.
Elderly Gravel pairs perfectly with Elderly Stone and Elderly Boulders. In combination, impressive mountain slopes can be created or fine details within the scape can be emphasised. Particularly noteworthy is its combination with Heaven Sand, which enables striking contrasts.
The finest grain size can be used as a standalone substrate in the aquarium.
Gravel is generally an inert substrate that does not provide nutrients for aquarium plants. Therefore, when using gravel as the sole substrate, the use of substrate fertiliser may be necessary. Nutrients can be added selectively using root tabs or fertiliser capsules, benefiting especially heavy root-feeding plants such as Cryptocorynes.

Note
All WIO gravels are pre-washed. However, the manufacturer recommends briefly rinsing the gravel with cold water before use to remove transport-related abrasion. This also helps prevent sand particles from floating up when filling the aquarium.

Warnings:
- Dust may temporarily irritate eyes and skin. Avoid contact and rinse with water if necessary.
- Inhalation of dust may irritate the respiratory tract. Ensure adequate ventilation.
- Small amounts may be swallowed by children or pets. This is not a toy. Keep out of reach.
- Risk of slipping if material is spilled. Clean up immediately.
General information:
- Handling dry material may generate dust. Rinse thoroughly before use and add slowly to the aquarium. Fine filtration helps to clear turbidity.
- Calcareous variants may increase pH and KH values. Suitable for hard water such as in Malawi or Tanganyika aquariums, as well as brackish or marine setups. pH-neutral variants are suitable for softer biotopes. Monitor water parameters regularly.
- Thick substrate layers may accumulate detritus. Shape the substrate with a slight slope, siphon carefully and avoid strong disturbances.
- Colour and texture variations are batch-dependent and may vary slightly depending on lighting.
- Store dry and airtight to prevent dust and moisture absorption. Keep away from food, children and pets. Transfer safely if packaging is damaged.
Handling instructions:
- Preparation: Rinse thoroughly in a clean bucket until the water is mostly clear.
- Distribution: Spread evenly. Do not compact the substrate too much in the aquarium. Shape with slopes for water flow.
- Filling with water: Place a plate or plastic sheet on the substrate. Pour water slowly over it to avoid disturbance.
- Start-up phase: Run the filter continuously. Partial water changes help remove fine particles.
- Chemical selection: Use pH-neutral substrate for soft or neutral water. Choose calcareous variants for alkaline water. Monitor water parameters regularly during the first weeks.
- Ongoing care: Siphon carefully and avoid stirring up dust.

I can't complain.
They are handy and compact. A colorful mix of different colors. That way I could give my river biotope the finishing touch.

Ich kann mich nicht beschweren.
Sie sind handlich und kompakt. Eine bunte Mischung aus verschiedenen Farben. So konnte ich meinem Fluss Biotop den letzten Schliff geben.
The product image can be a bit deceiving, which is how I pictured it. However, approx. 75% of the stones by quantity are smaller than 10 mm. Hence only 4 stars. (read more)

Großer Anteil kleiner Steine
Das Produktbild kann schon etwas täusche, so hatte ich mir das vorgestellt.
Allerdings sind ca. 75% der Menge Steine kleiner 10mm. Daher auch nur 4 Sterne.
Die Steine an sich sind sehr schön.
