The Aquatic Plant Set 250 Litres Green Medium No. 05 has been assembled for medium-sized to large nature aquariums and aquascapes, combining different growth forms, leaf colours and textures into a harmonious overall layout. The combination of foreground, midground and background plants allows for a varied design with natural transitions and impressive spatial depth. The set includes Pogostemon helferi, Micranthemum tweediei ("Montecarlo-3"), Hygrophila lancea "Araguaia", Bucephalandra sp. "Kedagang", Cyperus helferi, Limnophila sessiliflora, Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini' and Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig'. In particular, the mix of finely structured stem plants, compact foreground plants and striking specimen plants creates a vibrant and natural-looking aquascape.
This set is intended for aquarists who already have experience in fishkeeping and aquatic plant care. The selected plants require medium lighting, CO2 levels of 20 to 30 mg/l and fertilisation 2-3 times per week. The plants benefit from a regular nutrient supply and stable water parameters. The fast-growing species Limnophila sessiliflora and Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig' help establish the biological balance in the aquarium.
Pogostemon helferi is an extraordinary foreground plant with strongly curled, star-shaped leaves and a compact growth habit. Under good lighting conditions, it develops dense rosettes and creates striking accents in the foreground. The plant prefers nutrient-rich conditions and benefits greatly from additional CO2 supplementation.
Micranthemum tweediei ("Montecarlo-3") forms a dense, fresh green carpet in the foreground with its small rounded leaves. The plant grows in a creeping manner and is ideal for creating natural ground cover areas. With sufficient lighting and CO2, it quickly develops into a closed, lush carpet.
Hygrophila lancea "Araguaia" impresses with its narrow leaves and attractive reddish-brown coloration. It grows relatively compactly and provides beautiful colour contrasts among green aquatic plants. Under suitable conditions, it develops intense colours and a bushy appearance.
Bucephalandra sp. "Kedagang" is a slow-growing epiphytic plant with dark green to slightly metallic shimmering leaves. It is ideal for attaching to driftwood or stones and adds structure to the midground area. This robust plant also tolerates lower light conditions and gradually develops attractive leaf colours.
Cyperus helferi features long, grass-like leaves and creates a natural, dynamic effect in the background area. The plant gently sways in the current, adding additional movement and liveliness to the aquarium. It is particularly well suited for natural-style layouts and larger aquariums.
Limnophila sessiliflora is a fast-growing stem plant with finely feathered light green leaves. It efficiently absorbs excess nutrients and supports the stabilisation of newly established aquariums. With regular trimming, it forms dense plant groups in the background.
Lobelia cardinalis 'Mini' is a compact variety of the popular cardinal flower with small rounded leaves and a low growth habit. It is ideal for the foreground to midground area and forms dense groups. The plant grows slowly to moderately and remains especially compact with regular trimming.
Hygrophila polysperma 'Rosanervig' stands out with its light green leaves featuring striking white-pink veining. This fast-growing stem plant adds colourful highlights to the background and responds positively to good lighting conditions. It is robust, adaptable and especially suitable for the initial setup phase of an aquarium.
